GCI Group is honoured to support The Distress Centres of Toronto. In 2006, GCI provided media relations support for its annual fundraiser, the Bikers Against Distress (B.A.D.) Ride. The B.A.D. ride is a 145 km route throughout the Greater Toronto Area in which participating bikers raise money through pledges.
GCI’s challenge was to build awareness and increase participation for the 2006 ride. GCI helped generate awareness through local newspapers, TV and radio. GCI secured multiple media hits in publications and outlets such as the Toronto Star, the Toronto Sun and Rogers Daytime. The 2006 B.A.D. Ride was the largest and most successful ride to-date with nearly 1,500 bikers participating to raise over $200,000. This money will go directly to benefit the Distress Centres of Toronto so that they can continue to provide their valuable services.
“The Distress Centres know how lucky we were to have your support…[GCI] really did make a difference” said Karen Letofsky, executive director, The Distress Centres of Toronto.
