Toronto, Ontario, January 22, 2008 – Leading Toronto public relations agency, GCI Group is pleased to jump-start the New Year by announcing promotions within its Consumer Lifestyle and Health Care teams. Kim Roman has advanced to the role of Vice President, Consumer Lifestyle practice, while Laura Cropper and Lauren Joakim have been promoted to Consultant, Consumer Lifestyle practice and Consultant, Healthcare practice, respectively.
Since joining GCI as a Director in 2006, Roman has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, overseeing each of the firm’s Consumer Lifestyle accounts, including Mattel, Mars (Whiskas, Pedigree, Cesar), AIR MILES, Shell, Dial, Durex, Payless ShoeSource, 3M, Blockbuster, Tourism PEI, Pampered Chef, and Lassonde. Drawing from her impressive communications background, formerly holding positions with McDonald’s Canada and Cohn & Wolfe, she has grown existing client relationships and strengthened the practice’s portfolio, while enhancing relationships with the firm’s global affiliates.
“I am thrilled to assume the role of Vice President with GCI Group.” says Roman. “After great success in 2007, I look forward to working with our growing and talented team to make 2008 GCI’s strongest year yet.”
Cropper began her public relations career in 2006, as an intern with GCI. She lends her creativity and consumer-savvy to numerous accounts, such as Dial, Durex, Lowe’s, Shell and Lassonde. Of particular note, her considerable knowledge of the fashion industry has dramatically increased the Payless ShoeSource profile in Canada.
“GCI offers a dynamic work environment and countless developmental opportunities for anyone ready to learn,” said Cropper. “I’m excited to see what the next phase of my career brings.”
Joakim also began her career as an intern at GCI in 2006. As a Consultant, she will continue to leverage her expertise in the healthcare sector to help North American and International clients such as Schering-Plough’s Avelox, Mission Pharmacal’s Implanon and TEVA Pharmaceuticals meet their communication goals. In addition to a strong affinity for health care, Joakim often collaborates with GCI’s Consumer Lifestyle, Technology and Corporate practices.
“GCI’s collaborative approach to communications ensures that we continually benefit from each other’s individual expertise and bring innovative ideas to our clients,” said Joakim.
“It’s rewarding to see so many members of our team advance to the next stage of their careers,” said Marion MacKenzie, President, GCI Group. “They have each offered incredible contributions to GCI and we are proud to recognize their talent and accomplishments.”
