Ken Boessenkool

Ken Boessenkool draws on his extensive public and private sector experience to provide senior strategic counsel regarding reputation and issues management, communications and public affairs.

With a firm grasp of public policy and public issues that face the private sector, he provides clients with strategic counsel that generates results. Ken has extensive public affairs and communications experience in government, non-profit and corporate sectors. He is a trusted advisor to clients for a wide variety of corporate, government and not-for-profit initiatives.

Ken was previously National Practice Director of Public Affairs at Hill & Knowlton and also served as General Manager for Alberta. Before that, Ken was senior policy advisor and senior strategist to then opposition Conservative Party of Canada Leader Stephen Harper. He played senior strategic roles in the 2004 and 2006 national Conservative election campaigns. He has served in senior policy and strategic roles on the winning side of three national leadership races. He has worked on leadership campaigns in Alberta and Ontario.

Ken has been an Adjunct Research Fellow as well as a Policy Analyst with the Toronto-based C.D. Howe Institute and a Research Fellow at the Canada West Foundation. He has taught Canadian Public Finance in the Economics Department at the University of Calgary and has published over 35 academic articles. His opinion editorials have appeared in Time Magazine, The Globe and Mail, National Post, Calgary Herald, Ottawa Citizen, La Presse and elsewhere.

Ken is currently an Executive Fellow at the School of Public Policy at the University of Calgary. He serves as a volunteer board member of the Canada Israel Committee, the Canadian Friends of Hebrew University and the Calgary-based Cantos Music Foundation. He was named one of Calgary's 2007 Top 40 under 40 by Calgary Inc. Magazine.

Ken has an undergraduate degree in Management, with majors in Finance and Philosophy from the University of Lethbridge and a graduate degree in Economics from the University of Toronto. Ken and his wife have four daughters and live in Chestermere, Alberta.
