As Vice President with the Public Affairs group at GCI Group, Jamie Carroll is drawing on his considerable government and campaign experience to provide clients with government relations, project management, strategic communications and stake holder relations advice. Jamie has worked with clients in a variety of industries as diverse as oil and gas, defence procurement, gaming, infrastructure, arts and media, telecommunications and resource extraction
Prior to joining GCI Group (Canada), Jamie was a senior political operative working both in government and on national political campaigns. He served as National Director of the Liberal Party of Canada, was one of the principle architects of Stéphane Dion’s come from behind leadership win and worked as an advisor to a number of national and provincial political leaders and candidates.
Jamie has spent much of his political and professional career helping executives synthesize complex and often controversial ideas into simple, easily understood messages. From preparing the Prime Minister for the daily Question Period in the House of Commons, to negotiating on the world stage, to working through a billion-dollar project cancellation with oil and gas executives, Jamie has an impressive track record of developing and delivering mission-critical messages.
While working in government Jamie developed an exceptional understanding of parliamentary and regulatory processes, working in both the Prime Minister’s Office and the offices of senior cabinet ministers. Jamie has extensive experience from both the government and consulting sides of the ledger with navigating large, complex projects through both provincial and federal environmental assessments and other regulatory hurdles.
Jamie was also a senior advisor to Canada’s Minister of the Environment in the lead up to the United Nations Conference on Climate Change held in Montreal in 2005. He has travelled extensively in connection with environmental issues and worked with a number of leading figures on climate change and its impacts around the world.
Jamie has been involved with a number of charitable organizations over the years and is a regular media commentator on issues of national or political importance. He was recently recognized as one of "Canada's Top 100 Lobbyists" by the Hill Times. Jamie holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of King's College and works well in both of Canada's official languages. He and his wife, Megan, have one child, Ben.
