Chipmunk Royalty Comes to Canada

March 24, 2010 | Toronto | gci clients

To celebrate the arrival of Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel on Blu-ray Disc and DVD March 30, producer Ross Bagdasarian, Jr., son of the Chipmunk’s founder Ross Bagdasarian Sr. and his wife Janice Karman, producer/creator of the Chipettes, will discuss the legendary franchise and introduce key Blu-ray/DVD special features.

After his father's untimely death in 1972, Bagdasarian succeeded him as the main owner of the Chipmunks productions, which had fallen into obscurity after significant success between 1958 and the late 1960s. Under his supervision, new Chipmunks records were created in the late 1970s and early 1980s, including Chipmunk Punk. In 1983, Alvin and the Chipmunks Saturday morning cartoon series debuted on NBC. Ross Jr. sings and speaks the parts of Alvin, Simon, and Dave Seville. His singer-manager wife Janice Karman provides those of Theodore and The Chipettes: Brittany, Jeanette, and Eleanor. In 2007, Bagdasarian produced the movie, Alvin and the Chipmunks … and now, The Squeakquel.
